SUPER BASMATI RICE:
Super Basmati Rice is major production of Punjab Province of Pakistan. It constituted around 2.47 million tons of milled rice in 2010 but now its production has been squeezed to only one million tons. Super Basmati of Kallar area is well renowned all over the world because of its extinct aroma and cooking length. Super Basmati rice exhibits the following characters.
- 1- It is having delectable taste and characteristic aroma.
- 2- It exhibits fluffy and non-sticky character
- 3- It’s after cook length is more than double of its physical length.
- 4- It is fine variety and less chewy in nature and much convenient in peristalsis.

1121 Extra Long Grain Rice:
Our group considers 1121 as the rice of future. This variety has shifted whole rice growing system in Pakistan where farmers are considering its commercial value better than Super Basmati Rice. Its current production in Pakistan is around 0.60 Million tons which will grow with passage of time. 1121 Extra Long Grain locally called as Kainat and gives around 1800 Kg per acre while Super Basmati produces only 1200 Kg per acre. Secondly paddy procurement price of 1121 extra long grain rice remains at least 12 to 15% higher than Super Basmati Rice. It requires fewer inputs as compared to Super Basmati Rice and harvesting period is 15 days earlier than Super Basmati Rice. Technical Specification of the product is as under.

PK-386 Long Grain Rice:
PK-386 Long Grain Rice is non-aromatic and non-basmati rice but its cooking characters are observed close to Basmati. This variety has gained substantial space on shelves of Gulf Market and commonly known as Biryani Rice. This variety caters the middle class rice eaters as it is second to Super Basmati Rice but far better than IRRI-09 Long Grain Rice. Though it is called Long Grain Rice but its texture and taste is quite close to Super Basmati Rice. Total Production of PK-386 Long Grain Rice in Pakistan remains around 0.50 million Tons.

RRI-09 LONG GRAIN RICE:
This ranks four in Pakistan and purely sticky non-aromatic variety. Its production has significantly reduced in Punjab region but yes grown in South Region of the Pakistan. Its production is hardly around 0.15 million tons in both Punjab and Sindh Region.

KS 282 LONG GRAIN RICE & IRRI-06 LONG GRAIN RICE
These two varieties are considered almost the same but KS-282 Long Grain Rice is having better Quality than IRRI-06 Long Grain Rice. KS-282 purely hails from Punjab Region of Pakistan while IRRI-06 Long Grain is the crop of Sindh Region of Pakistan. KS-282 shows less belly white character, less sticky as compared to IRRI-06 and having more physical length but overall graded under same cadre of Long Grain Rice. Most of the times the prices of KS-282 Long Grain Rice remains at higher end but months between September to December, it remains almost equal or sometimes competitive than IRRI-06 and gets good demand from customers.
